Fruits & Vegetables That Do Best in Planters
I want to do this! What’s This?
green beans with butter image by robert lerich from Fotolia.com
Green beans are one of the many vegetables that grow well in planters.
If you’re limited in terms of gardening space, you still can enjoy fresh fruits and vegetables. The trick is to find fruits and vegetables that do well in planters, since planters take up very little space and are height-adjustable based on your personal needs. These plants may not be as flashy as flowers you might grow in the same space, but they provide greenery and have more practical uses.
Cherry Tomatoes Cherry tomatoes are compact versions of regular tomatoes. They won’t give you fruit that’s as juicy in most cases, but they’re perfect for kabobs and salads.

EFL: Knox Falcons win reserves flag
FAMILY and familiarity were the pillars on which Knox Football Club built its second-straight Eastern Football League division 1 reserves premiership.
The Falcons capped off a difficult season with a 16-point win over East Burwood at Bayswater Oval in the grand final on Saturday.
The side was coached by brothers Adrian and Peter Keltie and was led by brothers Darcy and Wade Collins, who received the premiership trophy.
The Falcons had to come from behind in the final quarter showing the poise and intensity gleaned from their 2009 triumph.
Adrian Keltie came out of retirement to coach at the urging of his brother, who was the assistant coach. "I’m glad he convinced me to do it," Adrian Keltie said. "He had to work on me for a while, but it has all paid off now."

Roughing it for a cause
A FERNTREE Gully resident will sleep out under the stars – not for pleasure but to raise awareness about homelessness.
Dean Cottier said he was frustrated that the need for social housing was given little coverage during the federal election.
He is now calling on federal and state politicians and Knox councillors to join him for one night to see what it is like to "do it rough".
Mr Cottier, who has previously lived in social housing, said the issue had been put in the "too hard basket" by some politicians. "Let’s stay out and let them know the reality of the situation. Let’s get some discussion going."

An insider’s guide to the Top End
WHEN former Central Australia tourism chief Steve Rattray told ABC Radio that Darwin was "the most boring, flat and uninteresting place" he’d come across, those involved in Top End tourism shuddered.

There was only one way to find out. Armed with some priceless local knowledge, here are my top 10 Darwin discoveries:
