Christmas blessing
WHEN little Tobey Mitchell put the angel on top of the family Christmas tree on December 1, the emotion was too much for his parents Tatum and Paul.
Only a year ago, Tobey, right, was in the neo-natal intensive care unit at Monash Medical Centre fighting for his life after being born 12 weeks premature with chronic lung disease.

THE Colour Lab in Prahran is rallying to help Koala Kids bring some joy to families who will spend Christmas Day at one of Victoria’s children’s cancer centres.
Hampers are being packaged to be delivered to families at the Royal Children’s Hospital’s new Kookaburra Ward, Monash Medical Centre and the Peter Mac Cancer Centre.

AUTHORITIES are warning all Victorians to write down a fire survival plan.
Recent rains have boosted the chance of grass fires this year and with summer starting tomorrow, CFA chief officer Euan Ferguson said ideal growing conditions for grass and other vegetation had created a real fire risk.

AN award-winning Wantirna South preschool teacher has told of her once-in-a-lifetime invitation to meet the Queen.
Knoxfield Preschool teacher Gisella Benetti attended a reception with the Queen and Prince Philip at Government House on October 26, but didn’t get to chat to Her Majesty.
“I got to within six feet of her, but it was protocol to stand where we were, and the Queen approached who she wanted to talk to,” she said.

MASTERCHEF finalist Callum Hann will launch this year’s Food for Families Appeal at the Melbourne Town Hall today.
